Better Late Than Never

So, it's getting a little late here on Wednesday evening, but I thought I'd stop in to say hello to all of you lovely Pandas!

An interesting week, to say the least. We pulled Drummer Girl out of her Tae Kwon Do class at the YMCA because the instructor threatened to knock her out. I don't care who you are, there's no reason anyone should say that to a nine-year old--but especially not an instructor. Silly me, I thought "Courtesy" was one of the Tae Kwon Do tenets.

Luckily, my kid let it roll off her, like water off a duck's back. When I asked her about it, she said that the instructor talked to the other kids like that all the time.

Um, no.

So, she's at a new dojang this week. It's awesome. Very strict. She loves it, too. I haven't seen her this excited about something in a long time.

As for ROW80 goals, I'm doing well on the fitness and weight loss. Down four pounds since Sunday, mostly because I'm walking 3-5 miles a day, plus doing the yoga.

Writing-wise, got the Executive Summary for the screenplay out to the people who were interested in it, so I can cross that off my list.

I will have this screenplay outline done by Sunday night. No, seriously. Set in stone, brought down the mountain, this is gonna happen. I'm about 75% of the way done, so it's almost there.

When I was at UCLA, we had two weeks to do the outline, this will be done in one. If it's done on Sunday, I'll be a week ahead of schedule.

I know that some people are anti-outline. Personally, I need some sort of road map.

How about you, Pandas? Do you outline?

What kind of adult would ever threaten to knock out a 9 year old? I'd go ballistic -- but it sounds like you got it handled without fireworks.

OH YEAH BABY!!!
way to kick it into high gear!!!
75% done!?!? that's awesome with a side of sauce!

yeah, that instructor must have been learning from the bad dude in karate kid (the original-yo!) ARGH!!!!

it's like my middle son's first grade teacher who told him he was a "bad kid." i'm still trying to get him to understand that he isn't!

good thing dg is so resilient, but seriously, the other parents of the YMCA kids should probably know how much of a prick that instructor is! ARGH!!!!

i could go, you know, teach him a lesson for you.
*tough gal head nod*

except he'd kick my ass.
hmmm...
then i could press charges????
maybe????

Yeah, the instructor was lucky I wasn't there. Tho, I think part of the reason she said that was because she knew I wasn't there. My dad was the one who saw it go down. He was pissed, but didn't say anything. He wanted to observe, to see what else would happened.

I did call up the Y and inform them why DG would not be back. They were very upset by the whole thing. I guess they're going to talk with her, and they wanted to know if they should keep me in the loop about what happened, but I doubted anything would come of it, so I said no.

As for the other parents, they're all very rude. They instruct their kids, encourage kids to act up, I had never seen anything so out of control. It was the loudest TKD class I had ever been in.

This new place is so much better. Leaps and bounds better. It's far, but worth the drive. They empower her.

And the parents are told to sit and be silent, if you're going to be in the dojang. No cell phones, no shoes, no disruptions. They have a waiting area outside the room where you can observe through the glass, and that's where you're allowed to have a conversation, talk on the phone, and have small kids run slightly amuck. If you're too loud, Master will let you know. I'd hate to be there when that happens.

Oh, and I liked the new Karate Kid. But the original was awesome, too.

my kids were literally standing up and cheering during the new karate kid movie (we were the only people in the theater, so it wasn't a bad thing!) i thought will smith's kid did an awesome job, and i so crush on jackie chan, he can do no wrong! :)

anyway, sounds like you handled things very well! i'm just glad the Y will be talking to that... person. ugh.

and! i need your new instructor to come here and teach me how to tame my wild children! HA!
:P

i sorta like to let them run a little wild at home. :) now, if i could get them a little less wild at school... hmmm... :P

I love the times when you're the only group/people in the theater. I saw Wedding Crashers that way years ago, and it was awesome. I love being able to laugh and cheer out loud.

Ha! I know all about wild children! Mine has always been full of energy.

DG's new instructor mentioned her wigglyness after the first class. I told him I knew about it, and that she's always been a wiggle worm. He asked if it's something he should address, and I said yes.

He said, "Good. That is easily fixable."

Really? Because we've been trying to get her focused for years.

She did much better after the second class. We'll see how things go after her review next week...

I'm just now getting to ROW80 Wednesday check-ins, so I hope you made your goal set for tomorrow. Great job on the weight loss. I need to officially put that in my ROW80 goals and hold myself accountable.
